The sharing economy is coming to music’s A&R game

One only has to look at the TV entertainment line up in any market place  from Voice, MGT, American Idol being entertained is still something that we’ll really care about and need.  Well this whole bring the crowd to the table  it’s about to get a bit more lousy -goosey with the Majors and Independent Entertainment companies looking for the crowd to help them understand what needs to be in the marketplace and what needs to go home and work on it a bit more.  TV was just the start of it.

No where has the recruitment process been more asymmetric than the A&R, recruiting and signing of music talent. With a very few  individuals –with the right ear, words and credit card these kingpins ruled. From getting the Rolling Stones to resign to a deal at the height of their popularity or that new band to take a jump and quit that soda stand  errr programming job and go out on the road — All of this was done by a select few. — Ive called it the mock turtleneck effect.

Well! today a wholesale shift is upon us.  The companies that are now responding to this are seeing what any particular artists is able to generate from fans and thus will set the whole supply-chain on notices as to who is BuyingThis(tm)  and where’s the  –and getting there already from Canada .
